    GDD Graz Lightning Talk

    I held a talk about my Core Experience design process at the Game Dev Days 2024 conference at TU Graz.

    The process focuses on going back to the core experience the creator had in mind when deciding to create the game.

    Independent of design methodology and genre, this is a vital element that can and should be referenced at each step of the process, from conception, pre-production, production until finalization.

    Subotron Call for Pitches

    I met with the honorable subotron jury, made up of members of the industry and university, to assess student submissions.

    This is important to me, because I never had the experience of studying video game creation, and our future as game creators starts with an education that is both rewarding and leads to concrete projects being realized.

    Most of the magic happens in the last 15% of development, hence making sure promising student collaborations receive attention and support should be paramount.

    PIXEL Vienna Diversity Panel

    The PIXEL vienna 2023 conference invited me to discuss Diversity and Representation in Animation and Character Design with industry members.

    Artists and producers from film, animation and video games discussed approaches of raising the quality and appeal by means of inclusion, avoiding cliché and broadening the cast to reach a wider audience.

    HTL Spengergasse Jury

    Each year, the HTL Spengergasse has students participating in the school’s internal game creation competition.

    As member of the jury I evaluate projects by various criteria, give feedback and industry veteran insights.

    I presented The Flower Collectors at the Game Dev Days Graz.

    The talk focused on two things: the creation process, and more important, the findings and issues encountered.

  • GDC Game Design Workshops

    GDC Game Design Workshops

    I attended game design workshops at the Game Developers Conference San Francisco.

    We worked on various concepts and prototypes over the course of two days. Greg Costikyan, Ralph Coster, Doug Church were guides and colleagues during the workshop.

    Most notably I recalled fundamentally different approaches, ranging from first person experiences (Doug’s free climbing) to classic MDA (mechanics – dynamics – aesthetics) patterns, and game philosophy discussions with Greg.
